TRANOÏ. Today is the last day, here in Paris. The launch of the IPANEMA bag has been a tremendous success, and I am so relieved about that. A big thank you to all my japanese friends and customers who trust me and follow my work + Xtra thanks to Bruno Lacoste the ECD of BRUNE AGENCY (www.brune-agency.com) in Paris who designed my logo and more. The dog tag - silver and ruby- has been created by Rusty Pistachio for Carine Letessier, a fine designer ( www.pnutjewelry.com) and punk rock band H2O’s exceptional guitar player.
When my friend Erwann phoned me from Brest, in Brittany, I was really intrigued: he had found an old stock of the Marine Nationale ( french Navy) canvas and he wanted me to have a look at it. He sent me a few swatches in New York and I instantly fell in love with the richness of the fabric and the cool logo from the late fifties. I bought all of it and decided to create a MONTAUK limited edition MARINE NATIONALE by adding some navy blue italian leather, the Montauk linen lining and silk scarf drawstring. Turned out great! I will introduce it this coming friday at TRANOI.
C’est mon ami Erwann, a Brest, qui a trouvé ce vieux stock de toile de la Marine Nationale. Un tissu épais et résistant avec son logo des années 50/60 que j’ai instantanément recyclé en sac MONTAUK edition limitée MARINE NATIONALE . TRANOI. Here it comes again! I will be introducing the spring/ summer 2103 lines I have been working on for the past 6 months. With TRANOI being 5 days away, I wanted to share with you some of the making of pictures of the photo shoot that took place in St Barths last august. Photographer was my friend Laurent Benoit and model was the lovely Alizée who happened to be officially chosen as Miss St Barths the night before! TRANOI takes place in Paris starting september 28th and my booth is at the Palais Brongniart ( Bourse). Would love to welcome you anytime! Tons of new stuff, still mostly based on recycling vintage army canvas and adding vegetal colors to it.

Je voulais aussi partager avec vous mes photos des coulisses de mon look book shoot mené de main de maitre par mon ami Laurent Benoit, photographe habitant sur l’ile (chance!). Notre modèle, Alizée Deleu, venait d’etre élue Miss St Barth la nuit d’avant.

A busy week in New York: in my studio, cutting cardboard, leather, fabric, canvas and drawing, drawing and redoing everything all over again.. Now is my time to imagine and put together the spring/ summer 2013 collection. Together with my friend Fernando who sews faster than anybody else on the planet, I can let my imagination run trans- wild! Lots of new ideas, I just hope I will still like them on monday… endless cycle of doubts and stress :)

Out, seeking inspiration. Just spent a couple of weeks in St Barths, my second favorite place by the ocean after Montauk. Now is the time to imagine the 2013 spring/summer collection! Endless hours on the drawing board to think about the materials, textures and colors I might be using for next year’s collection. I also have plans with a Japanese clothing brand I adore, from Fukuoka: ICHI, which is very inspiring. Well, and I did take some time off too… ;+)… with Darius.
Oh, and by the way, the Montauk collection is now sold at the Eden Rock hotel boutique!
Paris. Sunday morning: having a look at Véronique Pettit- Laforet’s original textile designs: out of this world!! Very inspiring, triggering lots of new ideas. Véronique is the mother of the blue dear with red antler design, one of my favorite scarves’ design.
Sundays are usually very busy days here, at TRANOÏ. Not to mention their party tonight at Le Trianon.
